A nice matched pair of English screw barrel, box lock flint pistols with walnut grips. They are marked “Wiggin and Co” on one side of the frame and “London” on the other side. They are sparsely engraved on the frames and triggerguards, and both are proof marked under the forward portion of the frames. The frame and the barrel, of one pistol, is marked with the number “1”, so one gets the correct barrel on the correct frame, after loading or cleaning. The other pistol is not numbered, in either area. Wiggin & Co. produced arms from 1808 to 1810, in what was then called Great Britain.
Caliber: Approx .44 flint
