An all original, breech loading, Alonzo D. Perry percussion sporting rifle with an octagon barrel.  These rifles have a magazine tube in the butt stock which holds percussion caps and feeds one to the nipple, each time the action is closed.  It is stamped on the breech ”Perry Patent Arm” and ”A.D. Perry Patented”.  The serial number is stamped on the breech end of the barrel, and on the top of the frame.  The number “36” is stamped in the face of the muzzle, for the caliber.  Approximately 1000 of these were made, just before the American Civil War.
