An all iron, single cavity, 1863 “New Model” Sharps bullet mold for the pre-metallic cartridge era. The nipper or sprue cutter is at the very end, opposite the handles. These arms were a chosen favorite, during the American Civil War, for the US Cavalry and Infantry as well, the Berdan Sharpshooters. One handle is marked “NEW MODEL 1863 / 52”.
