A very nice, 1860, Non Commissioned Officer’s sword with an early American Civil War date. The left side ricasso is stamped with the maker’s name and location. The right side ricasso is stamped ”U.S. // D F M // 1863″. DFM is the acceptance mark of Dexter F. Mosmon, the U.S. Government inspector, of this sword. The brass guard is also stamped “DFM”. Unfortunately we do not have a scabbard for this sword.
