An 1851 pattern cast brass and gold gilt buckle, from the Indian War era, with its original leather belt. It is the 1874 variation, slightly domed face with a rear belt loop and catch, in use from 1880 to 1900. Both the belt and the buckle are marked by the maker, Pettibone Bros. of Cincinnati, Ohio. Included is its original brass sword hanger.
