An untouched brass barrel, holster size, flintlock pistol by J. P. Moore of New York. The octogon shaped barrel has Birmingham proof marks, at its breech end, so it was probably manufactured in England. The top of the barrel is stamped “NEW YORK”, and the side plate is stamped”J. P. MOORE”. Some parts of the pistol are engraved. The stock is American walnut with a small silver plaque, just behind the barrel tang. J.P. Moore supplied pistols to some of the American Militia units in the 1820 to 1840 period.
