Artillery Fuse / Primer Pouch

An original, late 19th century, Hotchkiss artillery primer pouch, with its original shoulder strap.  Its construction is of brown leather with an embossed “US” in an oval frame, on the box flap.  The flap is closed upon a brass post or finial.  The shoulder strap is adjustable with a square brass buckle.  The wood block, inside the box compartment, is drilled for 18 fuses.  It is Government inspector marked with the initials “F.H.R.”, on the front of the main body, just under the flap.

Condition: Very nice, may be un-issued with some light scuffs and scratches – pliable leather with almost all of the original finish remaining – Brass parts have quite a bit of verdigris collecting on their surfaces
