Union Army Broadside

Printer: Unknown

Dated: July 26,1861

SKU: SS443 Category:

An authentic Civil War era broadside titled “FORWARD MARCH”.  This is an early war plea for volunteers with enticing bounties of extra money and land for their enlistment, or re-enlistment.  The offer is dated July 26, 1861, by order of Captain Richard Allen.  He was recruiting for Company I of the Union Army, at Camp Sheldon, Elyria Ohio.  The thin paper broadside appears to be glued to a piece of cardboard much like the backing of a cabinet card photograph, and is framed in a wonderful Civil War era wood frame, with gold and black highlights.

Frame Dimensions: 15″ x 12.25″

Broadside Dimentions: 11.75″ x 8.75″

Condition: Broadside has some staining and acid toning with minor losses – Frame is very good with only minor marks and retains its original glass – A newer piece of cardboard has been placed behind the original cardboard to protect it in the frame
