Description
An octagon shaped, heavily figured, burl wood smoking pipe that fits very comfortably within the hand. We believe it to be German or Hungarian and is an Oom Paul style with a full bent billard. It is classified as a “sitter” because it can stand upright on its own, due to its flat foot or shank. The pipe bowl and stem openings are both lined with metal. The bottom of the pipe is inscribed ”CARL EDUARD VOLKERT”. We date this pipe beween 1770 and 1830.
