Description
A September, 1905, Pike’s Peak, Denver, Colorado Grand Army of the Republic National Encampment bronze medallion upon which is a detailed Pike’s Peak scene. On the reverse it reads, “In honor of the men who victoriously defended the Union on land and sea during the War of the Great Rebellion 1861-1865”. Zalmon Simmons, the builder and first owner of the Manitou & Pikes Peak Railway, had this medallion struck and made for each of the attending members. They also received a trip to the summit on the Cog.
