Description
An all original Model 1879 Trapdoor carbine. This gun retains all of its correct features, including a carbine rear barrel sight, and a three piece cleaning rod with a shell extractor within the butt compartment. The stock is walnut. There is an ”R” stamped in the barrel, at its breech. We have not seen this marking before and do not know its meaning. The cartouche is stamped on the left wrist.

Condition: Barrel retains much of its origianl blue finish with the balance turning a grey/brown color – Receiver and Breech Block have traces of original case hardening – Lock Plate and Triggerguard have lots of original blue remaining – Stock has many nicks and marks, but no cracks – Caotouche is weak – Action is crisp – Bore is very good
