Description
A very nice socket bayonet with its original metal scabbard for the 1873 model Springfield Trapdoor Rifle. The blued triangular blade is stamped “U.S. s”, the meaning of the small “s” is unknown to us. The scabbard frog is the brass belt hook type, with a “US” medallion at its pivit point.
Length of Bayonet: 21.20″
Condition: Blade & Socket retain almost all of their original blue finish – Scabbard body retains a very high percentage of its original finish – Leather frog has some marks and losses of finish – Brass has a good dark age patina and is slightly bent
