Description

A rare, Civil War era, Natchez, Mississippi broadside.  It is printed by the Natchez Courier Print and is dated October 3rd, 1864.  It is a unique occupation broadside, notifying those claiming exemption from Militia duty to report to the special commission, during the present week.  It is nicely framed, using UV protective glass.

Included with this broadside is the original manuscript order, on official “Head Quarters United States Forces, Natchez, Mississippi” stationary.  It orders the contents of this broadside to be republished in the local newspaper, and is sighed by General Brayman’s Adjutant.  The doucument is in acid free film within a large pocket on the backside of the framed broadside.

Condition: Some staining and losses of ink on the “O” and “T” of “NOTICE” – Frame has slight separations on the 2 lower corners, but no other damage – Document has toned some and has been folded in thirds, at one time
